In the 3rd and deciding match between Sri Lanka and India, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. In which there was one change in the Sri Lankan team Maheesh Theekshana got a chance to play in place of Akila Dananjaya.
And there were 2 changes in India’s team as Rishabh Pant replaced KL Rahul and Riyan Parag made his ODI debut in place of Arshdeep Singh.
Batting first for Sri Lanka, both their openers gave the Sri Lankan team a good start. In it, Pathum Nissanka scored 45(65) runs and Avishka Fernando also played a very important innings in which he scored 96(102) runs. Kusal Mendis also hit 59(82). Sri Lanka scored 248 runs in 50 overs and lost 7 wickets.
India bowled Riyan Parag in his first ODI match with 54 runs in 9 overs and took 3 wickets. And with him Siraj, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, and Kuldeep Yadav took 1 wicket each.

After that, India’s batting was not done well by any player from the Indian side. From India, Rohit Sharma scored 35(20) and Washington Sundar 30(25) and the entire Indian team scored 138 runs in 26.1 overs and lost 10 wickets.
Sri Lanka bowling Dunith Wellalage took 5 wickets for 27 runs in just 5.1 overs and it was the best bowling figure of his career. Maheesh Theekshana and Jeffrey Vandersay both also took 2 wickets. Asitha Fernando also got 1 wicket.
Asitha Fernando was the Player of the Match with 96 runs and 1 wicket.
Dunith Wellalage has become the player of the series with 108 runs and 7 in the entire series.
Sri Lanka beat India in ODI series for the first time in over a year. Sri Lanka last beat India in an ODI series in 1997.
